In general we expect mostly professional workplace-appropriate behavior from members. We also expect people to follow Wheaton's Law: "Don't be a dick."
Know your audience and be aware of other members. Do not force other members to hear or see things that they don't appreciate just because they are stuck working on a project or using a tool. While we absolutely support the free exchange of ideas, most members don't come to the space to discuss deep topics, politics, pandemics, current events, etc. but to get away from that stuff and work on fun things.
Harassment
We do our best to enforce our anti-harassment policy but there are clearly grey areas. If you feel that you have been harassed please reach out to a board member and we will do our best to address it but that often involves a conversation and warning to the member involved. We do suspend and cancel memberships in clear cases of harassment.
Your membership agreement defines harassment to include but is not limited to:
- Offensive verbal comments, text, drawings, or other expressions related to race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or veteran status.
- Unwelcome sexual content in public spaces. This includes but is not limited to images, video, audio, text, and physical objects.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Disclosing private personal information without permission. This includes but is not limited to email addresses, phone numbers, and names.
- Harassing photography or recording. Do not photograph people in private situations without permission. No covert photography, recording devices, or hidden cameras are allowed other than those the board of directors has approved for security purposes.
- Intentional disruption of working environment, classes, talks, other events.
- Inappropriate physical contact. Ask before touching another person and treat the absence of a “yes” response as a “no”.
- Unwelcome sexual attention. Do not comment on other’s appearance, body, clothing, etc. without permission.
