Inspiration Labs Inc. is the not-for-profit corporate entity that operates as Tampa Hackerspace (d/b/a). The board of directors is currently made up of seven people. The duties of the directors vary per our bylaws and agreement between the board members.

Current Directors

The current directors are:

  • President: Alex Wingeier
  • Vice President: Jon Adair
  • Executive Director: Scott Boake
  • Director or Operations: Peter Harshberger
  • Director of Strategy: Bruce Sharp
  • Director at Large: Paula Sandusky
  • Director at Large: William Stillwell

Nominations

Each seat is up for (re)election every three years on a staggered schedule of 2-3 seats per year. We start taking nominations early in April and they are due one week before the Annual Meeting the first Tuesday of May. To be eligible, you must be a member in good standing for the previous consecutive six months.

Elections

The actual election process depends on the number of nominees per open seat.

If there are exactly as many accepted nominations as there are available board seats, no voting is required.

If there are more accepted nominations than there are available board seats, we collect votes to determine the outcome.

This has not yet happened, but if there are less accepted nominations than available board seats, things get a bit complicated. We will take nominations at the Annual Meeting and vote during the meeting if necessary. If there still aren't enough nominations, the current holder of that board seat may continue to hold it or appoint their own successor. If the seat still isn't filled, the President may appoint someone to that seat.

Voting

Votes are now collected electronically via our website. Details will be sent soon after nominations are closed. Two members validate and tally the votes. The numerical results are not shared with anyone else.
