Tool Description

The Shapeoko 4 is a 3-axis CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) router. It has a 33" x 33" working area with a Z height of 4"

At this time only wood, foam or plastic can be cut on the machine, not metal. If you have questions about what can be cut on the machine ask in the #cnc-shopbot channel.

The machine has a 1/4 colet and we do have several different wood bits, mostly up/down compression bits and a few other single flute cutters along with a fly cutter.

While it is possible to use your own G-code files created with other software like Fusion 360 we currently want to restrict usage to to files generated with the Carbide Create software from the machine manufacturer to avoid hardware crashes or other issues.

Carbide Create has a free version that has a few limitations, such as not being able to generate "3d" machining files and not generating gcocde but being restricted to their proprietary file type. A pro version removes those restrictions but we do not have a license for it yet.
